Getting out in the community to attend different services in multiple facilities can sometimes prove difficult. Barriers can include access and arranging transportation, budgeting for the costs of both transportation and services, mobility issues, long waitlists, and residential changes. It can take a huge toll on a person to plan and organize everything, go from one place to the next, and try to manage any sudden changes along the way.

This is why Full Circle Therapeutic Recreation was created; to supply a solution for individuals facing these barriers. Providing highly essential services for clients in their own home allows them to receive a uniquely personal and alternative care in a setting they are most comfortable in.

I work with older adults living at home on their own or with family, and children with developmental disabilities. I provide services for those in need of respite care and/or therapeutic recreation to assist in their development, maintain or improve their current functioning, and rekindle past interests and hobbies. We work on this through programs individually tailored to the client, with the goal of benefitting their mind, body, and soul.

I serve Cornwall and the surrounding area.

Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia can often feel overwhelming and difficult not only for the individual themselves, but for their loved ones and caregivers as well. Having someone with experience working alongside those affected with this can help the individual and their family feel supported properly. 

I strive to have my client’s feel that their needs are important to me, and that they can feel confident in my capabilities to meet their cognitive and physical concerns, all while improving their social connectedness. For these reasons, I offer respite care services for families and caregivers who are not only looking for extra support, but to also enrich their loved ones' lives by adding stimulation to their day.

Having a stroke can greatly impact an individuals’ everyday life and activities. There can be loss of muscle movement and physical abilities, paralysis of one side of the body, difficulty talking and writing, memory loss, and much more. This can often leave one feeling lost as their autonomy and capabilities are challenged with learning how to live with their ailment. This is where Full Circle Therapeutic Recreation comes in to help! 

I focus on their current strengths and abilities and utilize them to help individuals by adapting programs to their needs. Whether it's re-learning old skills or learning new ones, like how to use their non-dominant side, work on regaining muscle functioning through light exercise and games, increasing cognition and improving memory, or simply learn how to use leisure as a way to help cope with emotions and stress. Full Circle Therapeutic Recreation is there to lend a hand every step of the way. 

It can be exhausting at times when it comes to being a fulltime caregiver. Recognizing the challenges that come along with that title can allow family members and caregivers to realize the value of their hard work. Having an understanding of needing extra support and a helping hand can benefit both the one being cared for, and the one caring for them. Acknowledging this can help ease stress and reduce burnout, ensuring you're not pouring from an empty cup.

Through Full Circle Therapeutic Recreation, I provide respite care for families that combines services, creating a complete package. This includes respite for parents, personal care for the child, and can include therapeutic recreation programming. While helping their child develop emotional, physical, and social skills, we can improve their mental and physical health- all in the comfort of your own home! This unique service offers a comfort to parents; knowing that their child is receiving necessary care, while also participating in therapeutic recreation to help them grow and develop!

While focusing on their unique interests, therapeutic recreation can allow kids to receive many benefits while simultaneously having fun in a way they enjoy: through play!
